Bruce Johnson – Chief Financial Officer

Bruce Johnson graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After university, Bruce joined the public accounting firm of BDO Dunwoody to obtain his Chartered Accounting designation. Even as a teenager, Bruce worked on house construction during the summers and so it seemed natural that Bruce became involved with many clients in the construction and real estate development industry. Since then, Bruce has had several progressive financial positions over a 25 year span with residential, commercial and condominium developers in the Toronto area including Controller of Frastacky Associates, Zinc Construction, Zinc Developments and most recently Cresford Developments. He was responsible for all aspects of financial management, planning, reporting and control at the project and corporate level. It was while with Cresford Developments, an established residential condominium developer in the Toronto area, that he was exposed to the difficulties of providing affordable housing and felt that more must be done.

Bruce has been very impressed with the philosophy of Habitat for Humanity and when they became active in Toronto, he joined a volunteer build team. He strongly supported their partnering with the home owner to be and the teams of volunteers that worked together to achieve a dream for a family’s future. After the initial build experience, Bruce and his family have participated on various Habitat build sites as individuals or as part of their Church builds. He has seen the eager anticipation future new home owners and the dedication of staff and volunteers to make this happen. He is excited to join the team and bring his experience and knowledge to Habitat Toronto to help bring more affordable housing to the community.
