Kevin Garland became Executive Director of The National Ballet of Canada in the fall of 2002, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the business and corporate sector, as well as a close involvement with the cultural community. Prior to this, Kevin was the Executive Director for the Canadian Opera House Corporation, where she oversaw the development of a $100 million performing home for the Canadian Opera Company.
Kevin studied at the University of Toronto, earning degrees in both English Literature and in Urban and Regional Planning. In 1975, she joined A.J. Diamond Associates, Architects and Planners, first as an Associate and then as a Partner. Kevin was appointed Vice-President, Planning and Design, Eastern Region, for BCE Development Corporation in 1986, and from 1989 to 1998 held the position of Vice-President, Planning and Design and Senior Vice-President, Corporate Real Estate, with CIBC Development Corporation.
Kevin has sat on numerous Boards including the Board of Trustees of The United Way of Greater Toronto and Ryerson University. She is currently a Director of the Canada Lands Corporation, and the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for Habitat for Humanity and a member of the Mayor’s Roundtable on Arts and Culture for the City of Toronto.
