Volunteer on a Habitat Build Site

We have several construction sites across the City - all with public transit access. Equipment is provided and no previous experience is necessary.

Volunteer at a Toronto ReStore 

ReStore volunteers assist with preparing store merchandise, receiving donations and customer service. An orientation is required for first-time ReStore volunteers.

If you are interested in more information about volunteering with Habitat for Humanity GTA, we hold Information Sessions twice a month. At these sessions, we'll provide a brief history of Habitat for Humanity, plus let you know how, when, and where you can get involved. Sign up online to reserve a spot.

BUILD SITE VOLUNTEER

Our homes are built almost entirely by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. Whether you are a contractor or have never picked up a hammer in your life, we can use your help.

 

Habitat for Humanity GTA has several construction sites across the Greater Toronto Area - all with public transit access. All the equipment and safety gear you need for the day is provided and no previous experience is necessary. Orientations take place at the start of each shift. Sign up online today.

CREW LEADERS & CREW TEAM

If you have a combination of construction experience, team leadership skills and regular availability, you may be interested in becoming a Crew Leader or Crew Team member. 

 

Crew Leaders are an integral part of the Habitat mission. We look for high potential volunteers who would be able to motivate, teach and lead a group of (potentially) inexperienced volunteers in a construction task for the day.

GROUP VOLUNTEERING

Spending a day on a Habitat build is a great way for companies, community organizations or a group of friends to help make the dream of homeownership a reality for families living in need. What better way to learn the value of team building, co-operation and leadership than by working with your co-workers and peers on a Habitat GTA build site?

RESTORE VOLUNTEER

Do you like hanging out at your local hardware store? Are you interested in customer service? Or are you looking for a way to complete your student volunteer hours? Join our ReStore communities that sell new and gently-used renovation and household material.

 

Volunteers assist with preparing merchandise for resale, receiving donations and customer service. Orientations take place on the first Saturday and third Wednesday of each month at all ReStore locations. To get started, sign up online today for an orientation.

SALVAGE CREW 

This is a hands on deconstruction team that goes in to various neighborhoods in the Greater Toronto Area to remove kitchens, doors, windows, bathrooms and more from donors homes for resale in our ReStores. Always interesting and never in the same place. Time and location requirements vary.

EVENT VOLUNTEER

Habitat for Humanity GTA holds and participates in many events throughout the year. The time commitment, location, and type of volunteer opportunity varies from one event to another. Volunteers lend a hand in many ways such as set up, registration, and representing Habitat to the public. Orientation material is provided prior to the event at our head office or over the phone.

GLOBAL VILLAGE PROGRAM

Global Village trips take place around the world and can be a life changing experience. It’s an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of development issues, to learn more about another culture and about yourself.
