By building decent, affordable homes, Habitat for Humanity Toronto helps low income families break the cycle of multigenerational poverty.  Homeownership allows families to build equity and capital so they no longer need to put their income toward overcrowded and substandard housing.

Affordable housing crisis in Toronto is at an all time high.  One in five households lives in housing that is too small, needs repair, or is unaffordable*.  The outlook of a decade or longer waiting period for the opportunity to rent one of hte limited number of subsidezed units in a disadvantaged neighbourhood is disheartening for hte more than 600,000 low income people living in Toronto.

Habitat for Humanity Toronto brings together volunteers, donors, and Partner Families to build affordable homes - by promoting Homeownership.  Habitat Toronto has set the goal to build at least 50 simple, decent and affordable homes each year through 2015.  There are several build sites either under construction, already completed, or in the planning stages all over the City of Toronto.
