Volunteer in your community

We invite Faith groups, non-profit groups and community organizations to come build simple, decent, and affordable homes for Toronto families living in need.

Habitat for Humanity Toronto is committed to helping hardworking families living in substandard housing.  The Habitat Homeownership program is for families looking to improve their lives through commitment and partnership.  We rely on group volunteers to help accomplish our mission.  Your group can have a direct hand in helping build a home and provide a lasting contribution to the lives of the families that will eventually move into their Habitat home and to the community.

All groups will be asked to fundraise a minimum of $50 per participant to have the opportunity to participate in an Adopt a Day Team Build Day. In taking this step, your group has recognized the importance of providing a long-term solution to the affordable housing crisis in Toronto. We can provide tools for your group that will assist you with fundraising.

Please note that all volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to build with us.

How Team Builds Work

• A contact at your organization arranges a day for 10 - 20 employees to participate as a group at our build site. Once your day is scheduled, your group contact will receive all of the information your group will need to have a great Build Day.
• On the day of your build, your group arrives at the site at 8:00am, submits their waviers, completes the registration process and will receive CSA approved steel-toe boots and hard hats. At this time, your group will also receive a short safety training session and be led in the Habitat Cheer 
• Next, your team will be split into smaller groups and led through projects by Crew Leaders who are experienced construction volunteers.
• Your team will spend the day learning and performing various construction tasks to help us build a house.
• You will also enjoy a team t-shirt, coffee breaks, a well-earned lunch, as well as team photos that are taken throughout your build day.
• The build day ends at 4:00pm
